When it comes to popularity, everyone has their favorite. Some focus on stage magic, others on comedy magic, close-up magic, or mentalism. However, when it comes to distinguished careers, international recognition, and contributions to the art of magic, few names have truly left a lasting mark.
The only Mexican magician to have won the prestigious award at the world's most important magic competition, the International Federation of Magic Societies (FISM), is Juan Carlos Rodarte. This historic triumph for Mexican magicians occurred in 1997 in Dresden, Germany , when Rodarte won a prize in the Magic of Invention category.
Since then, no other Mexican magician or mentalist has managed to match this feat.
Also notable on the Latin American scene is Henry Evans of Argentina, who achieved one of the greatest magical feats by winning First Place in Card Magic at FISM 2000 in Lisbon, Portugal. His elegant, technical, and innovative style has positioned him as one of the greatest exponents of close-up magic worldwide.
Regarding participation in the Gala Show on the final day, only two Latin American magicians have been honored with this prestigious recognition. In 1973 it was magician Chen Kai, at FISM in Paris, and in the year 2000 magician Ednovi, invited to the prestigious show in Lisbon, Portugal. Their presence in the Gala Shows of the most important magic event in the world stands as international recognition of their talent.
